Accessibility Statement
Accessibility Statement for theholetruth.org
Effective date: August 22, 2025
Organization: The HOLE Foundation (Honest Oversight & Legal Ethics)
Our commitment
We’re committed to making theholetruth.org usable for everyone. Our goal is to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA across our site and to continuously improve accessibility as we add features and content.
Measures we take
-
Design & development: Semantic HTML, meaningful headings, proper form labels, visible focus states, sufficient color contrast, descriptive link text, and alt text for non-decorative images.
-
Content practices: Plain-language summaries for complex topics where possible; captions/transcripts for multimedia; accessible document publishing (tagged PDFs or HTML equivalents).
-
Testing: Ongoing self-evaluation using automated checks (axe/WAVE) plus manual keyboard-only and screen-reader spot testing (NVDA/VoiceOver).
-
Governance: Accessibility is part of our definition of done. We review new components, embeds, and templates before publishing and track issues to resolution.
Conformance status
We aim for WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance. Some parts of the site may not yet fully meet this standard; see “Known limitations & roadmap” below.
Compatibility
Our site is intended to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) and with assistive technologies on desktop and mobile. Using the latest browser and OS improves your experience.
Third-party content
We integrate services such as GoFundMe embeds, document viewers, maps, and social sharing tools. While we encourage vendors to provide accessible experiences, some third-party content may not fully meet WCAG. We provide alternate paths (e.g., direct links, plain-HTML pages, or contact-on-request) when possible.
Known limitations & roadmap
-
Embedded maps / data visualizations: Some interactive controls may be difficult to use with a keyboard or screen reader. Planned: add skip links and provide accessible data tables / static summaries.
-
Legacy PDFs / scans: Some older documents may be untagged or image-only. Planned: prioritize tagging, OCR, and HTML versions for high-traffic items; offer accessible-format copies on request.
-
Video captions & transcripts: A few legacy clips may lack accurate captions. Planned: complete captioning and add transcripts for all long-form videos.
-
Third-party donation widgets: If an embed is not accessible, we will provide an alternative donation method via a direct link or phone/email assistance.

Assessment approach
We assess accessibility by:

Self-evaluation using automated tools and manual testing
-
Incorporating user feedback and issue tracking
-
Periodic reviews aligned to major releases and quarterly check-ups
Enforcement & escalation
We take accessibility seriously. If you believe we are not meeting accessibility requirements, or if our response to your request is unsatisfactory, please email info@theholetruth.org with “Accessibility” in the subject line so we can escalate internally.
Continuous improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We review this statement at least quarterly and update it as our site and practices evolve.
